Research and Advocacy
We work to ensure all older Australians have the opportunity to enjoy a decent quality of later life and to reduce disadvantage among older people now and in the future.
We research how current government policies impact on the daily lives of vulnerable Australians and lobby for improvements to support people adversely affected by changes.
We have undertaken numerous research projects looking at the challenges facing older Australians today. These projects include:
- Identifying opportunities for enhancing social inclusion, through learning new skills, or participating in the community
- Examining what knowhow is needed for later life and how to acquire it
- Impacts of the changing aged care funding system and how older adults navigate that system.
- Investigating workforce age discrimination concerns.
We ensure that the evidence produced from these studies enhances our services.
Our research on dementia includes ongoing consultation with our staff, people living with dementia and their carers. This important work has allowed us to pilot innovative, supportive programs.
Our research and advocacy are vital in developing our services to enable you to live a fulfilled, safe and meaningful life, providing opportunities for you to meet your aspirations and goals in later life, to live a life that you value.
