About us
The Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL) is a not for profit aged care provider working to create lasting change for future generations. We have been caring for disadvantaged older people since 1960s and have been an accredited aged care provider for over 30 years. Our purpose-built residence in Clifton Hill opened in March 2020 and is just 8km from Melbourne’s CBD. Located opposite the Darling Gardens, close to shops, public transport and major hospitals and health services are conveniently close.
The architecturally designed five storey building boasts spacious individual rooms with ensuite bathrooms, individually controlled heating and cooling, light filled communal areas and strong connections with the local community. The building has many sustainability features providing relaxing views over tree lined avenues.
Person centred living is at the heart of everything we do. We offer quality care and friendship for people in a warm and friendly environment. Inclusive and welcoming of people from all backgrounds and faiths, we take the time to get to know our residents and their families. We will work with you to tailor a plan to suit individual preferences and circumstances.

Care and services
Our qualified staff are present around the clock. A registered nurse is on duty at all times. Residents have access to visiting doctors and other health practitioners including a physiotherapist, podiatrist, dietician, social worker and psychologist. We also provide specialised care and tailored activities for residents with dementia and other complex needs.
Enrichment program and innovations
From music to art, gardening and exercise routines, you can choose a wide range of activities from our lifestyle program. We will also assist you to pursue the interests and hobbies you enjoyed before moving in and find new activities to keep you healthy and happy.
Accommodation fees
The amount paid for accommodation depends on a resident’s eligibility for government help. All fees for residential care are calculated according to government guidelines. Help with some, or all, of the accommodation cost are available to those that need it.
There is no minimum RAD to enter.
The maximum refundable accommodation deposit (RAD) is $550,000. The maximum daily accommodation payment (DAP) is $73.99 per day.
For example, a combination payment of 50 per cent refundable deposit and 50 per cent daily payment would include the RAD at $275,000 and the DAP at $36.99 per day.
Please note these prices are maximums and each case is assessed individually.
Respite care
At BSL Aged Care – Clifton Hill, respite care is offered on a short-term basis and is supported by specialist nursing care.
